Tjong A Fie born in Guangdong province, Tiongkok at 1890..and then he came to Indonesia from Meixian, Guangdong at 1875 with only took a few of silver coin on his hand.
With his brother Tjong Yong Hian (1850-1911), he built a plantation business. His company employed more than 10.000 employee and then he became one of Chinese richest man in Sumatera at that moment. Because his successful, he has a close relation with the top people in Medan such as Sultan Deli Makmun Al Rasjid . Then, A Fei appointee to became China Captain (nMajoor der Chineezen), the leader of Chinese community in Medan, pinched hit Yong Hian who already passed away. Tjong A Fie died at 1921

INFLUENCE
A Fie known as a donor and deserving for Medan development..He was the people who built the train track which connect Medan with Belawan harbour. Besides that, he also rendered the bell tower for old Balai Kota building. A Fie also built the first Chinese hospital in Medan which name Tjie On Jie Jan
Now, his house at Balai Kota Street which finished at 1900 become some of icon in Medan city.
