Tjong A Fie's house

MHiii friends...As we know that Indonesia has many city right? and one of them is Medan which has in North Sumatera..In here,we can see some places which have uniquely history such as Tjong A Fie's house in Balai Kota street..Maybe i can tell a little bit biography of Tjong A fie to complete our journey..

BIOGRAPHY

Tjong A Fie born in Guangdong province, Tiongkok at 1890..and then he came to Indonesia from Meixian, Guangdong at 1875 with only took a few of silver coin on his hand.
With his brother Tjong Yong Hian (1850-1911), he built a plantation business. His company employed more than 10.000 employee and then he became one of Chinese richest man in Sumatera at that moment. Because his successful, he has a close relation with the top people in Medan such as Sultan Deli Makmun Al Rasjid . Then, A Fei appointee to became China Captain (nMajoor der Chineezen), the leader of Chinese community in Medan, pinched hit Yong Hian who already passed away. Tjong A Fie died at 1921

INFLUENCE

A Fie known as a donor and deserving for Medan development..He was the people who built the train track which connect Medan with Belawan harbour. Besides that, he also rendered the bell tower for old Balai Kota building. A Fie also built the first Chinese hospital in Medan which name Tjie On Jie Jan
Now, his house at Balai Kota Street which finished at 1900 become some of icon in Medan city.

Maimun Palace, Medan

Located on Jl. Brigjen Katamso Medan (10 km from the Polonia airport), Maimun Palace is a holdover of Sultan Makmun Al Rasyid Perkasa Alamsyah. Kingdom deli is dominated by yellow (the color typical wilt) years and was completed in 1888 by Italian architect .When examined, the building has a cultural fusion between Islam and Europe, with some material (such as tile and marble) which is imported from Europe. The build consists of 2 floors with 3 main parts, namely the main building, left wing and right wing.

The influence of European culture is probably quite thick in this palace, we can see from the start lights, chairs, tables, cupboards and the door. The influence of Islam can be seen in the form of a curve (arcade) in the roof like a boat capsize (persian curve), which is usually found on the built in the middle east region.

One of the rooms in the building is Balaiurung. This place is usually used for coronation ceremonial of Sultan Deli. Then there are 40 rooms consisting of 20 rooms on the top floor (where sultan throne) and the prison is located on the floor beneath.

At the palace complex, we can be a tough shell which very sacred. According to the legend, Deli Sultanate have beautiful daughter named Putri Hijau. Because of her beauty, Aceh Sultan fall in love and want to married her but the application was rejected by the two brother of Putri Hijau. Sultan Aceh angry, and declare the war between the Sultanate and aceh deli. With his power, the older brother of the girl change become a dragon and the youngest brother change become a cannon which did not stop the army to shoot aceh. But at the end, Deli Sultanate get defeat and the cannon exploded because overheating. The explosion was throw the back of the cannon to Labuhan Deli and the front of the plateau to Karo.
